    What is Preservé®?

Preservé® is the name of a technology for breast augmentation, not the name of an implant. The implants mentioned in connection with it are Motiva Ergonomix2®. This distinction matters when you are researching procedures and implant choice.

Terms such as “minimally invasive” or “gentle” do not replace individual medical information. What counts for the decision is how a procedure is specifically planned, which changes are possible and which burdens and risks remain.

    How the technique works

First, we numb the area of the inframammary fold locally. Through a small incision we create access and introduce further local anaesthetic to numb the surgical area thoroughly. Light sedation can be added if desired.

We prepare the space for the implant by a controlled stretching of the tissue with a soft balloon. This avoids extensive detachment of tissue. The pectoral muscle is not detached.

We then insert the implant using a sterile insertion sleeve, a so-called funnel. This allows the implant to be placed without direct contact with the skin.

Whether the Preservé® technique is suitable for you depends on your individual findings and the desired implant size. We clarify this together in the personal consultation.

    The implants: Motiva Ergonomix2®

Preservé® is performed with Motiva SmoothSilk® Ergonomix2® implants. The manufacturer lists, among other things, a smooth surface (SmoothSilk®), an elastic gel (ProgressiveGel Ultima®), a multi-layer construction of shell, patch and gel (TrueMonobloc+®), an optional RFID tag for contactless identification (Zen® RFID) and a coloured safety layer (BluSeal+®).

These features describe the product; they are not a promise of a particular result or lifespan. Which properties are relevant to your planning, we discuss on the basis of the current manufacturer documentation.

    Which method suits me?

Breast width, tissue thickness, skin quality and the position of the nipple influence the planning. Added to this are your medical history, previous operations and the desired change. A particular implant brand alone does not determine suitability.

An implant adds volume, but cannot always sufficiently correct excess skin or a markedly descended breast. Depending on the findings, a lift, another method of breast augmentation or not having surgery are sensible alternatives.

Preservé® can be discussed, for example, for a first breast augmentation, in combination with a lift or together with own fat. Only the examination shows whether one of these situations applies to you.

    Planning instead of blanket promises

The size, shape and position of the implant are considered together with the surgical access. The aim is a change that suits the starting point and your wishes. A particular appearance or feel cannot be guaranteed.

Discuss in the consultation how the proposed planning differs from other procedures. This also includes the limits of the method and whether additional measures would be required.

Is breast augmentation possible without general anaesthesia?

Breast augmentation with Preservé® can be performed at our practice under local anaesthesia. General anaesthesia is generally not required for the procedure. If you would like to be more relaxed during the procedure, local anaesthesia can be supplemented with light sedation. General anaesthesia is also possible on request after appropriate assessment.

We discuss with you which option suits your needs and health. Monitoring and care are tailored to the chosen anaesthetic procedure.

Tissue-sparing approach and return to everyday life

With the Preservé® method, the implant pocket is prepared using controlled balloon dilation. The aim is to preserve the existing tissue structures as far as possible. This approach can reduce postoperative pain and downtime and support an earlier return to everyday life. The individual healing process remains decisive.

If healing is uncomplicated, a gradual return to sporting activities may be possible after about three weeks. Which sports and loads are already suitable, we determine together at the follow-up appointment.

Swelling, a feeling of tightness and rest are part of the recovery phase. When work, sport or lifting children are possible again is determined individually. Plan for support rather than relying on a blanket short downtime.

    Scars and wound healing

Even a breast augmentation through a small access leaves a scar. Its later visibility depends on, among other things, the incision, wound healing and individual disposition. “Small scars” does not mean “scar-free”.

    Risks and long-term follow-up

Breast augmentation remains an operation. Possible risks include bleeding, infection, wound healing problems, changes in sensation, capsular changes, implant displacement or defect, and a result that requires further procedures.

Breast implants are not lifelong products. Follow-up appointments and documentation in the implant card are part of long-term care. Product-related questions about imaging, warranty and implant properties should be clarified on the basis of the current documentation for the specific implant planned.

    What belongs in cost planning?

For a cost comparison, it is crucial which services are included: operation, anaesthesia, stay, follow-up appointments and any further measures. An individual quotation should set out these points clearly.

The decision for a procedure should not depend solely on a price or a brand name. Suitability, limits, risks and long-term care are just as important.

    Frequently asked questions

Is Preservé® the name of the implant?

No. Preservé® refers to the technology. The associated implants are called Motiva Ergonomix2®.

Is Preservé® suitable for every breast?

Suitability cannot be assessed on the basis of the procedure name alone. Anatomy, skin quality, tissue thickness, history and goals must be examined and discussed.

Is breast augmentation possible without general anaesthesia?

Yes. Breast augmentation with Preservé® can be performed at our practice under local anaesthesia, supplemented with light sedation if required. On request, general anaesthesia is also possible after appropriate assessment; monitoring and care are tailored to the chosen procedure.

Will small scars be invisible later?

This cannot be promised. Every operation leaves scars; how they develop also depends on individual wound healing.

When can I return to work or sport?

The type of activity, the course of the operation and healing determine the gradual return. If healing is uncomplicated, a gradual return to sporting activities may be possible after about three weeks; which sports and loads are already suitable, we determine together at the follow-up appointment.

Do Motiva implants have to be replaced after ten years?

There is no fixed replacement date that applies in principle. Symptoms, changes to the breast or implant and medical findings may make an exchange or removal necessary.
